Four-star WR Thaiu Jones-Bell commits to Alabama over Tennessee

Another receiver target off the board.

Tennessee was in the mix late with another receiver prospect, looking to fill a big need on their roster. The Vols will see four receivers move out of the program after the 2019 season, meaning they have a few spots to fill at the position in the 2020 class.

Tonight, Alabama made sure Tennessee had to wait a little longer to fill that need. Thaiu Jones-Bell announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide this evening, adding to Alabama’s third ranked class.

Jones-Bell is the 85th ranked player in the entire 2020 class, according to 247 Sports. He is the 12th ranked prospect in the state of Florida and the 16th rated receiver in the class. Jones-Bell stands in at 5-11, 187 pounds and brings some legitimate deep speed to the table.

Tennessee hosted Jones-Bell for the Orange and White Game back in April, then sent Brian Niedermeyer and Tee Martin for an in-home visit on May 10th. That effort came up just short with Jones-Bell.

Other top options at receiver in the 2020 class for the Volunteers include four-star Muhsin Muhammad III and four-star Kris Abrams-Draine.
