Texas A&M, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan State, Auburn and N.C. State joined Tennessee in his top eight.
Muhammad checks in at 6-0, 185 pounds and is ranked as the 145th overall player in the 2020 class, according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings. He’s the 27th ranked receiver and 6th overall player out of the state of North Carolina.
Muhammad’s father played for 14 seasons with the Panthers after being drafted in the second round coming out of Michigan State. That family connection has the Spartans in the thick of the race. Michigan State holds two of Muhammad’s three crystal ball projections right now, with the other being awarded to N.C. State.
The 2020 receiver visited Tennessee during spring practice in early April. He was in attendance for the 2018 season opener against West Virginia in Charlotte after picking up an offer from the Vols in the spring last year.
Receiver continues to be a big need for Tennessee with both Jauan Jennings and Marquez Callaway set to leave after this season. Muhammad is one that could easily come in and push for instant playing time, bringing game-breaking speed to the table.
