Tennessee football’s hot streak on the recruiting trail continued Friday afternoon with the commitment of 3-star running back Tee Hodge. The talented back announced it on Twitter.
Hodge is a 3-star in-state product out of Maryville, Tennessee, less than half an hour away from Knoxville itself. He is ranked as the 658th overall player in the country, the 48th best running back, and 22nd best player in the state of Tennessee, according to the 247Sports Composite ratings.
Despite the lower rankings, Hodge is one of the more exciting grabs of the class.
You would never know his ranking if you just heard the offers he currently holds. Michigan, Oregon, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Penn State are all teams that have thrown their hats in the ring for Hodge. His recruitment was fairly quiet until the past couple of months, when more teams got their eye on him and tried to poach him from the Volunteer State.
The biggest reason is his size and speed. Hodge measures in at 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds and was clocked running a 4.47 40-yard dash. Suffice to say, those types of athletes don’t come around often. He also has an interesting lineage by being the nephew of Randall Cobb.
Hodge is the first running back commit of the class and will likely be one of two. He’s the fourth in-state player to commit, and the sixth overall commit of June.
Tennessee’s class now ranks 20th in the nation and ninth in the SEC. If rumors are to be believed, they will get even more talent in the next month.
