Another day, another prospect releasing a trimmed down ‘top schools’ list on Twitter. But this is a big one, folks.
Five-star athlete Arik Gilbert trimmed his list down to ten schools on Monday, including the Vols. Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Penn State, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Auburn, USC and Clemson joined Tennessee on the list.

The 6-5, 245 pound prospect attends Marietta High School in Georgia, along with Tennessee quarterback commit Harrison Bailey. Tennessee signed four-star receiver Ramel Keyton from Marietta in the 2019 class also.
Gilbert is the No. 1 athlete in the class of 2020, checking in as the 10th overall prospect in the class, according to the 247 Sports Composite. He plays the tight end position and the defensive end spot for Marietta and could play either side of the ball at the next level. Some programs even view him as a big receiver at the college level.
Catching passes from Bailey, Gilbert hauled in 88 passes for 1,210 yards and 14 touchdowns during the 2018 season. He also put up six sacks and totaled 64 tackles.
To put it simply — he’s a freak.
Gilbert was on Tennessee’s campus back in May for a visit, taking part in the paintball event that the coaching staff put on for both the current players and the recruits. He was also on campus back in January for a junior day event.
The crystal ball projections are locked in on Georgia right now, however. The Bulldogs have 10 projections for the five-star in-state athlete. Tennessee has work to do to get him out of the Peach State, but they’ve established a relationship with him and gotten him on campus several times over the past two years.
