Tennessee had a big Friday night, earning two commitments in their 2020 class. Just hours after three-star guard Javontez Spraggins committed, the Vols added one more.

2020 four-star safety Antonio Johnson was the next one, announcing that he was “100 percent committed” to Tennessee. The two players are actually teammates at East St. Louis High School in Illinois. Both players participated in Tennessee’s football camp earlier in the day.

The 6-2, 185 pound safety prospect is Tennessee’s 8th commitment of the 2020 cycle.

Johnson checks in as 161st overall player in the 2020 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s the 11th rated safety in the class and the 3rd ranked player to come out of the state of Illinois.

Johnson held offers from Texas A&M, LSU, Georgia, Michigan and several others. He totaled 81 tackles and five interceptions for East St. Louis High School last season.

Following his commitment, Tennessee jumps up to 24th in the 2020 class rankings, per 247 Sports.
