Tennessee continued their in-state success on the recruiting trail on Wednesday in landing 3-star athlete Darion Williamson out of Haywood High School in Blountsville, Tenn.
Williamson announced his commitment to the Vols via Twitter:
Williamson is now the 12th member of Tennessee’s 2020 class and the fifth from the state of Tennessee.
According to Austin Price of Volquest, Jeremy Pruitt and his staff believe that Williamson could end up on offense or defense due to his athleticism. His primary recruiters were running backs coach David Johnson and wide receivers coach Tee Martin.
At Haywood, Williamson, who at 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds, played both ways as a wide receiver and defensive back during his junior season in 2018.
According to a 247 Sports composite, Williamson is the No. 32 rated prospect in the state of Tennessee and picked the Vols over Memphis.
Tennessee’s 2020 class currently ranks 26th nationally and 11th in the SEC, per 247 Sports.
