One thing Tennessee hasn’t had a problem doing since Jeremy Pruitt arrived is pulling top defensive back talent.
Pruitt and his staff were forced to overhaul the cornerback room upon arrival. They were able to do that in a bit of an unconventional way, converting Alontae Taylor to defense, while adding Bryce Thompson late in the 2018 recruiting process. From there, Tennessee has added Tyus Fields and Warren Burrell, along with Art Green — the No. 1 rated JUCO player in the 2020 class.
On Monday night, they made the top eight for Kendall Dennis, another four-star cornerback prospect.

Tennessee was joined by Nebraska, Florida State, Miami, South Florida, Auburn, Georgia and Florida.
Dennis stands in at 6-0, 172 pounds and is out of Lakeland, Florida. Tennessee has already pulled one cornerback out of the state of Florida in this cycle, securing a commitment from Lovie Jenkins. Dennis is the 337th ranked prospect in the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. He’s the 31st rated cornerback prospect in the class of 2020.
At The Opening Regional event in February, Dennis clocked a verified 4.40 in the 40 yard dash.
Dennis visited Tennessee on June 13th and 14th, as well as April 6th. Tennessee offered Dennis back in March of this year.
His junior year highlights are littered with interceptions, along with impressive returns. Dennis doubles as a running back for Lakeland, getting that 4.4 speed on the field with the offense.
