One of Tennessee’s highest ranked commits in the 2020 class announced that he was reopening his recruitment on Sunday night. Antonio Johnson, a four-star safety from Illinois, decommitted from Tennessee after committing on June 7th.

Johnson committed alongside of his high school teammate Javontez Spraggins after the two camped with Tennessee in June.

Johnson is 6-2, 179 pounds and is ranked as the 149th player in the 2020 class, according to 247 Sports. He’s the 12th ranked safety in the class and the 4th ranked player out of the state of Illinois.

His decision comes directly following a visit to Texas A&M this weekend. Johnson has seen his stock increase over the summer, getting attention from A&M while also earning an offer from Alabama after camping in Tuscaloosa. LSU has also been in the mix for Johnson.

Tennessee now has 12 commitments in their 2020 class. The good news is that the Vols landed four-star in-state safety Keshawn Lawrence a few weeks ago, who is a top 100 player in the class.
