Tennessee stayed hot on the recruiting trail on the 4th of July, adding a future commitment to their 2021 class. Jay Jones, a defensive back out of the state of Alabama, announced his commitment to the University of Tennessee on Thursday afternoon.
First off I would like to thank God for allowing me the opportunity to play the game I love. I want to thank my parents, supporting family & coaching staff. I would like to announce that I am committing to the University of Tennessee ‼️‼️ @CoachJPruitt @DansleyAnsley GO VOLS ‼️ pic.twitter.com/A4FY75vuhx

Jones is the third player to join the class of 2021 for Tennessee. The 6-1, 180 pound defensive back picked up his Tennessee offer at the end of May, following a camp performance in Knoxville.
Jones has yet to be ranked by 247 Sports or Rivals.
He joins four-star receiver Jordan Mosley and three-star athlete Elijah Howard in Tennessee’s 2021 group, currently.
At 6-1, 180 pounds, Jones ran an impressive 4.5 in the 40 yard dash. That blend of size and speed earned Jones his offer as Jeremy Pruitt and Derrick Ansley look to stockpile talent in the secondary.
Tennessee was able to get in early with Jones, before he really hit the camp circuit. Jones told 247 Sports that LSU had shown interest, but in-state Alabama and Auburn hadn’t really gotten the ball rolling with him just yet.
