The 6-6, 238 pound prospect is the 21st ranked prospect in America, according to 247 Sports. Evans is the top ranked weak-side defensive end prospect in the 2020 class and currently sits as the top prospect in the state of North Carolina.
Evans took an unofficial visit to Tennessee last October. He’s seen North Carolina several times this year, giving the home state Tar Heels a perceived edge in his recruitment. North Carolina currently holds six crystal ball projections for Evans, according to 247 Sports.
Tennessee added pass rushing help in the form of four-star prospect B.J. Ojulari several days ago. But the spot still remains a position of need in the 2020 class.
Evans has elite size and length, with plenty of room to grow. He registered 12 sacks last season as a junior, adding 25 tackles for loss. It’s early in his football life, but Evans has quite a few things going for him that you can’t teach.
