Tennessee-Georgia line released

The Vols are three touchdown underdogs.

Tennessee sits at 1-3 on the year and it’s not going to get any easier this week. The No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs are coming to town — and they’re big favorites, as expected.

Georgia opened as a 22 point favorite this afternoon, according to a couple of sportsbooks.

Georgia is coming off a bye week, along with Tennessee. The Bulldogs beat Notre Dame at home last weekend, moving to 4-0 on the year. The Volunteers were waxed in Gainesville, losing to Florida 34-3.

For Tennessee, the bye week came at a good time. Jeremy Pruitt made a change at quarterback at halftime of the Florida game, inserting true freshman Brian Maurer into the game. Maurer led the only scoring drive of the day, but was pulled after three straight ineffective drives.

Will Tennessee play Maurer going forward? We’ll see, but Jarrett Guarantano did get the first team reps in practice last week. Still, this situation is one to watch this week.

The Tennessee defense will be tasked with shutting down the 15th ranked offense in the country, which features the 12th ranked rushing attack in the FBS. Even more troublesome for Tennessee, the Bulldogs rank 9th in total defense after four games.

My guess? You can probably expect this spread to grow as the week goes on. We’ll keep tabs on that.
