Final 2019 Football FanPulse: Confidence around the football program soars as it heads into the 2020 season

How did we get here?

NCAA Football: Gator Bowl-Indiana vs Tennessee Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Volunteers (8-5, 5-3) capped off the 2019 season with a dramatic, come-from-behind victory over Indiana Hoosiers (8-5, 5-4) in the Taxslayer Gator Bowl. Since the victory confidence in the direction of the program has remained above the 90% mark (92% to be exact), which is a drastic turnaround from earlier in the year.

Fans should feel good about what this team should be able to do in 2020 and beyond. As long as Jeremy Pruitt and co. keep adding the players they need, then there’s no reason to think the Vols can’t get better in 2020.

Tennessee didn’t crack SB Nation’s final Top 25 - nor did it crack RTT’s Top 25 - but as you can imagine, there were some shakeups throughout the poll in the final weeks.

The LSU Tigers claimed the top spot (obviously), while Clemson finished second. Ohio State, Georgia, and Oklahoma rounded out the final top five.

Four of the top-10 were SEC schools and three were from the Big Ten. UAB and Navy finished as Top-25 programs, which is pretty impressive.
