Tennessee sends out new 2020 offer

A late name to watch.

After hosting Dylan Spencer over the weekend on a visit, Tennessee officially offered the 6-3, 300 pound offensive line prospect.

A Southern Miss commit since July of 2019, Spencer has seen his options open up late in the 2020 recruiting process. The Mississippi native is a teammate of Tennessee QB/ATH signee Jimmy Holiday, who flipped to the Volunteers during the early signing period. Holiday was a TCU commit at the time — could Tennessee be in a similar situation here?

It makes sense for Tennessee after losing offensive guard prospect Kyree Miller last week. With just a couple of spots left in the class, it’s become clear that the Volunteers would like to take a receiver and an offensive lineman.

Spencer is a three-star prospect, ranking outside of the top 1,000 players, according to 247 Sports. Mississippi State, Kansas and Missouri are the three latest schools to offer Spencer, as programs have clearly discovered something that they like.

Tennessee has completely rebuilt their entire offensive line in the matter of two seasons. They now could start as many as four five-star prospects up front in 2020, but they also have the depth and competition to round out the roster behind those guys. Spencer would certainly add to that.

National Signing Day is now just a couple of weeks away. This class will officially wrap up on February 5th, which is likely the day you can expect Spencer to make a final decision.
