Tennessee will take a “break” from SEC play to take on the No. 3 team in the land this afternoon. The Vols will make the trip to Kansas, taking on the Jayhawks as a part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge.

These matchups were determined based on the finishing order of the conferences last season, if you were wondering how Tennessee ended up with this draw. The Vols have handled West Virginia, Iowa State and Kansas State in the past three years of this event. But Kansas is a different animal.

Tennessee actually faced Kansas last season in the preseason NIT, losing in overtime after Grant Williams fouled out. Today will obviously be a much tougher task, on the road, with a less talented roster.
