It won’t be too much longer until we see Tennessee back on a football field, at least for practice. Tennessee announced this morning that spring practice would begin on March 9th and roll through April 18th, where the Orange and White Game will be played at Neyland Stadium.

The traditional spring game will give us our first look at the 2020 Volunteers, which will include our first chance to see freshman quarterback Harrison Bailey in Jim Chaney’s offense.

The kickoff time for the Orange and White Game has yet to be announced.

Tennessee will feature four early enrollees this season — the aforementioned Bailey, four-star defensive lineman Dominic Bailey, four-star center Cooper Mays and three-star QB/ATH Jimmy Holiday. Spring practice will also give us our first look at Cade Mays on the offensive line, who transferred in from Georgia earlier this month.

Starting in the spring, all eyes will be on the quarterback position. Jarrett Guarantano returns, and will be tasked with holding off not only Bailey, but sophomores Brian Maurer and JT Shrout as well.

We’ll also get the chance to Josh Palmer work as the clear cut No. 1 receiver, with Ramel Keyton and Brandon Johnson emerging into secondary options.

Defensively, it will be about replacing Darrell Taylor, Daniel Bituli and Nigel Warrior. Henry To’o To’o, Quavaris Crouch and Jaylen McCollough will each have more on their plate, right off the bat.

Expect plenty of coverage on those situations, beginning on March 9th with the opening of spring practice.
