SEC play is here — and it’s come at the worst possible time for Tennessee. Losers of three of their last four, the Volunteers are now diving head first into conference play in just their second game without senior point guard Lamonte Turner.
Stepping in for Turner was Josiah James, who has disappointed offensively to this point. But help is on the way today in the form of four-star guard Santiago Vescovi, who was cleared by the NCAA on Friday. Vescovi joined the team last week and will only have a handful of practices under his belt before his first game. We’ll see how much Barnes plays him today.
LSU enters this game with an 8-4 mark on the season. The Tigers are coming off of an impressive win over a good Liberty team, but suffered losses to USC and ETSU before that.
Skylar Mays and Javonte Smart are back for the Tigers this season, both averaging double figure points per game. Tennessee will have their hands full with a potent offense this afternoon — can they find their own offense to keep up?
