Four-star athlete Damarcus Beckwith schedules official visit at Tennessee

A new name to watch.

It’s been quiet for Tennessee after the early signing period wrapped up. Tennessee inked 21 prospects in December, leaving room for just a few more during the traditional signing period in early February.

One name to watch in the final days of this 2020 cycle emerged this weekend. Damarcus Beckwith, a four-star athlete out of Florence, Alabama, announced his final visit schedule. Kentucky, Florida and Tennessee will each receive official visits from Beckwith, with the Vols getting the final look on January 31st.

Beckwith is a 6-4, 215 pound prospect. He ranks 33rd in the class and 14th in the state of Alabama, per 247Sports. He’s a multi-sport star, also playing basketball and running track.

Beckwith picked up his Tennessee offer this time last year. He visited Knoxville unofficially several times throughout the year, camping with the Vols during the summer. He was in town for both the UAB and Vanderbilt games.

Something to monitor here is a late offer from Florida State. Mike Norvell’s staff is looking to get involved in the next couple of weeks as this cycle winds down.

On the field, Beckwith fits as a pass catcher. His size could allow him to bulk up and even play tight end in the future. Beckwith played quarterback in high school, but most schools are projecting him as a pass catcher at the next level.

Tennessee has signed two receivers so far in their class, getting four-star Jalin Hyatt and four-star Jimmy Calloway. Jimmy Holiday is another potential fit at the position. While Tennessee is set from a numbers standpoint, none of those players offer the size that Beckwith does.
