The Tennessee Volunteers will be back in action this week, following a bye last week. Their opponent will be the much-improved Arkansas Razorbacks, which will be coming off of a 42-31 loss at Texas A&M on Saturday night.
Arkansas, under first year head coach Sam Pittman, has been the surprise of the SEC to this point. They may only be 2-3, but the Razorbacks gave Georgia a scare in week one, then turned around a beat Ole Miss and Mississippi State. They nearly did the same to Auburn.
For a group that went 2-10 last season under Chad Morris, the improvement is more than evident.
They’ll face a Tennessee team that is once again trying to find their way. Offensively, the Volunteers have been stuck in the mud for much of the season. That’s had a little carryover effect to the defensive side, which needed this bye week to get healthy in the secondary.
Perhaps a week off provided some new opportunities for this staff to mix things up. Let’s hope so with Auburn, Texas A&M and Florida on the horizon.
But first, the Volunteers and Razorbacks will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET time on the SEC Network this coming Saturday night, the league announced on Sunday morning.
Expect an early line coming out of Vegas sometime this afternoon, and much more analysis throughout the week.
