Tennessee’s game against the Vanderbilt Commodores has been postponed, the league announced tonight. It’s the second game of the season that has been delayed for the Volunteers, following the Texas A&M postponement two weeks ago.

This game in particular was pushed back by the league in an effort to get all ten games in for each team, as the conference explained.

“The Tennessee at Vanderbilt game is postponed for the purpose of facilitating the rescheduling of the Vanderbilt at Missouri game,” the SEC said in a statement. “This rescheduling of games allows for the continued opportunity for all 14 teams to play all of its 10 games in the 2020 season.”

Vanderbilt will now play Missouri at noon ET on Saturday, while the Tennessee will have another open date. Missouri-Arkansas was also postponed.

“The opportunity to reschedule the Arkansas at Missouri and Tennessee at Vanderbilt games will be evaluated,” the SEC’s statement continued. “The rescheduling of games on the remaining SEC football schedule will include December 19 as a playing date.”

Tennessee and Texas A&M are now slated for December 12th, while the 19th is seemingly the only option to play the Vanderbilt matchup.

“As we continue to adapt to the current realities, it important to remain flexible as we move forward in the final weeks of the season,” said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. “Contact tracing continues to be the biggest contributing factor to game interruptions. We will continue to manage the remaining weeks of the football schedule to allow for as many games to be played as possible.”

Tennessee currently sits at 2-5 on the year with the next matchup scheduled for December 5th against the Florida Gators.
