Vol Hoops Pause Extended; Team Pulls Out of Jimmy V Classic

No trip to Indy for Tennessee hoops

I might actually cry some real tears.

“After receiving Monday’s COVID-19 test results, the Tennessee men’s basketball program is extending its pause on team activities,” UT said via the story that’s linked in the above tweet.

So the Vols will not be travelling to Indy to play Gonzaga, and won’t be playing a game against Notre Dame that was unofficially scheduled for Dec. 4th but had not yet been officially announced or finalized.

“Barring additional setbacks, the program aims to return to action on Saturday, Dec. 5, with its first game currently set for Dec. 12 against Cincinnati at Thompson-Boling Arena,” the release said.

With football season being a huge disappointment and games being cancelled or postponed left and right, basketball season is/was something lots of fans, myself included, were really looking forward to.

The release also stated that Head Coach Rick Barnes is still at home in isolation after receiving his positive COVID test results.

I imagine this is just the first setback in season that’s likely to, best case, highly irregular. Insert the crying face emojis here.
