One of Tennessee’s most important commitments of the 2021 cycle is still all Vol. After reaffirming his commitment to Tennessee last month, four-star quarterback Kaidon Salter has now confirmed his plans to sign early next month.

Salter announced on Sunday that he will sign on December 16th, which falls in line with his plans to enroll early and get started right away in Knoxville.

Salter would be the second consecutive blue-chip quarterback to enroll early at Tennessee, following Harrison Bailey’s path from the last cycle. Of course, unfortunately for Bailey, he was unable to capitalize on the opportunity after spring practices were canceled after just a couple of sessions.

A native of Texas, Salter is a top 50 player in the 2021 class, per 247Sports. The 6-1, 185 pound prospect has been praised for his live arm and ability to extend plays. He should bring a little different dynamic to the Tennessee quarterback room, which is currently full of pocket passers.

Salter picked Tennessee over Auburn back in May, following a visit in March. That visit just so happened to be the final visit before the in-person recruiting pause, which has now been extended into next year.

Tennessee’s quarterback room will feature Harrison Bailey, Brian Maurer, J.T. Shrout and Kaidon Salter, as things currently stand. Fifth-year senior Jarrett Guarantano could return if he chooses to do so, though it’s difficult to see that happening considering the current situation.

Hopefully we get a spring football period in 2021, because the quarterback situation will be a really fun battle to monitor.
