The Tennessee Volunteers are officially a top ten team, following wins in their first two games of the season. Tennessee was forced to wait to open its season following COVID issues, which ended up forcing five cancellations for the Vols.
Finally, Rick Barnes and Tennessee got going with wins over Colorado and Cincinnati last week. Both weren’t exactly pretty, understandably so after the delay. The schedule for Tennessee lightens up a bit over the next two weeks, with games scheduled against Appalachian State, Saint Joe’s, Tennessee Tech and USC Upstate.
The Vols will open SEC play on December 30th with Missouri, who have started the season red hot. Cuonzo Martin’s Tigers entered the polls this week at No. 16. — the only other ranked team in the SEC.
Gonzaga continues to hold the top spot, followed by Baylor, Iowa, Michigan State and Kansas. Kentucky, now at 1-4, remains unranked.
