We’ve talked a lot about the performance of Santiago Vescovi since joining the team in early January, but probably not enough about his entire life transition to make this all happen.
Forget joining Tennessee as an 18 year old kid and having to learn the offense, Vescovi has seen his entire life uprooted to chase his dream of playing basketball. From joining the NBA Global Academy in Australia to heading to Knoxville, Vescovi has left his family in Uruguay behind.
But before the game against Florida on Saturday afternoon, Santiago was reunited with his parents.

Vescovi went on to score 11 points and add four assists in Tennessee’s 63-58 upset of Florida. John Fulkerson powered Tennessee’s offense with 22 points, hitting a three in the closing moments to stop the Gators’ late run. It was a much needed win for the Volunteers who have limped down the stretch this season.
For Vescovi, he’s come along nicely with all things considered. He’s been a spark plug for Tennessee, and his future looks bright with two five-star guards coming to play with in next season.
