The 6-1 receiver noted in his announcement that an announcement would be coming soon.
Merrill received his offer from Tennessee a year ago. He’s visited campus twice since then, including a trip to Knoxville for the South Carolina game last season. Merrill is a three-star prospect, checking in at 371st overall in the 247Sports Composite rankings. He boasts an impressive offer list, which includes Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M and Penn State.
Since making his announcement on Wednesday, Tennessee has added a crystal ball projection, per 247Sports. Tennessee added four receivers during the 2020 cycle, each four-star prospects. The Volunteers already have another four-star receiver commitment in their 2021 class in Jordan Mosley.
Jeremy Pruitt visited his school in Brentwood back in January, while receivers coach and passing game coordinator Tee Martin has handled the lead of Merrill’s recruitment for Tennessee.
Be on the lookout for Merrill’s announcement — he might just be the next commitment of Tennessee’s 2021 class.
