Four-star athlete Jantzen Dunn names Tennessee to his top seven

Jantzen Dunn, a four-star athlete from Bowling Green, Kentucky, has named Tennessee top his top seven schools. Dunn put out his list over the weekend, placing the Volunteers alongside of Miami, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Louisville, USC and Oklahoma — not your typical list of schools that Tennessee usually fights for recruits.

The 6-2, 178 pound athlete is the 212th ranked prospect in the nation, according to 247Sports’ 2021 rankings. Dunn plays receiver and safety in high school, while doubling as a track and field star. His athletic measurables are impressive, which includes a 4.5 in the 40 yard dash and a 40.8 in the vertical leap.

Most in the recruiting world think Dunn will end up at cornerback or safety in college.

Tennessee offered Dunn back in January, prompting an immediate visit to Knoxville just days later. Defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley is serving as his primary recruiter for the Volunteers.

Because of that ability to play at receiver, Dunn projects as a high-upside defensive back. He’s got the length that Jeremy Pruitt likes to play cornerback, and Dunn shows off some intriguing ball skills for the position.

As we’ve noted, cornerback sets up to be one of the top needs for Tennessee during the cycle. There’s no guarantee that’s where he will ultimately end up playing, but Dunn is a candidate to help fill that need in the 2021 class.
