Tennessee is set to get a visit from a big time quarterback in the 2021 recruiting cycle next weekend. Kaidon Salter, a four-star quarterback from Cedar Hill, Texas, announced that he would be in Knoxville for a visit on March 12th.

Salter is a top 100 overall prospect in the 2021 class, according to 247Sports. The 6-1, 185 pound quarterback is the 4th ranked dual-threat prospect in the class. He’s the 12th ranked player in the loaded state of Texas.
Tennessee offered Salter back in January, which quarterbacks coach Chris Weinke leading the charge. Since then, he’s taken visits to UCLA, Ole Miss and Arkansas. Currently, the crystal ball projections point towards Baylor and Arkansas as the favorites.
In the 2020 cycle, Tennessee landed two quarterbacks — four-star pocket passer Harrison Bailey and three-star athlete Jimmy Holiday. Jarrett Guarantano is entering his final year with the Volunteers, while Brian Maurer and J.T. Shrout will enter their sophomore seasons in 2020. But the odds of all of those guys sticking around are minimal.
Tennessee has been involved with a few 2021 quarterback prospects, but hasn’t seemed to get real traction with any just yet. Let’s see if this visit from Salter can change that.
