Tennessee has landed in the top five for another four-star prospect, this time coming up front on the offensive line. Colby Smith named the Volunteers to what he called his ‘final 5,’ along with Louisville, N.C. State, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Smith made the announcement on Friday night.

Smith has something you can’t teach — a 6-foot-7 frame to go along with a current 290 pounds. He’s the 138th ranked prospect in the 2021 class, per 247Sports. He’s the 8th ranked player in the state of North Carolina and the 19th rated offensive tackle prospect in the country.

Tennessee has offensive line coach Will Friend and running backs coach Jay Graham as his primary recruiters. The Volunteers offered the Reidsville, North Carolina native on January 22nd this year. Smith quickly got to campus for a visit at the beginning of February for a junior day event. He has been a frequent visitor on the campuses of South Carolina, North Carolina and N.C. State.

Tennessee has yet to pull in an offensive line commitment to their 2021 class.

Smith plays on both sides of the ball in high school, but projects better as a tackle thanks to his length. He’s obviously got some more filling out to do, but that shouldn’t be an issue once he gets to the next level.

Tennessee currently has ten known commitments in the 2021 cycle, good for 17th in the country currently per 247Sports’ rankings.
