Four-star defensive back Kamar Wilcoxson commits to Tennessee

Another big addition.

It’s safe to say that the Tennessee Volunteers are heating up on the 2021 recruiting trail. Just one day after landing five-star pass rusher Dylan Brooks, Tennessee has added four-star safety Kamar Wilcoxson.

Wilcoxson made the announcement this afternoon with the following video.

The Bradenton, Florida native is currently enrolled at the IMG Academy. Wilcoxson is the 14th ranked safety prospect in the 2021 class — the 266th ranked player overall, per 247Sports. He checks in at 6-1, 190 pounds.

Wilcoxson has actually committed to Florida twice, once in 2018 and then again in 2019. But after a number of visits the spring, he decided to decommit once again in March. Wilcoxson recently picked up offers from Georgia and Ohio State. Alabama has also remained in the mix heavily. But today, he’s a Tennessee Volunteer.

Wilcoxson still currently has an official visit scheduled to Ohio State, slated for June 12th. We’ll see if that happens after today’s news, along with the uncertainty around the COVID-19 outbreak.

On the field, Wilcoxson has ability to play both at cornerback and safety. His length would be a nice asset at the cornerback position, potentially filling a need if Bryce Thompson declares early next season. Baylen Buchanan will also exit the picture after 2020.

Tennessee currently has the 7th ranked class in 2021, per 247Sports.
