A big statement.

One of Tennessee’s biggest targets in the 2021 class made a big statement today, telling Rivals that the Volunteers currently lead in his recruitment. The four-star receiver said Tennessee was coming after him the hardest this spring, with Jeremy Pruitt and Tee Martin speaking to him daily.

Though he admits that he grew up an Auburn fan, it’s clear he’s leaning towards another SEC school right now.

“Tennessee is the school for me right now. I am already talking to other guys about Tennessee, so I feel really good about them.

Nixon is out of Georgia, a state that Jeremy Pruitt has recruited hard since arriving at Tennessee. The 6-4, 225 pound Nixon is the 46th ranked prospect in the 2021 class, per 247Sports.

Tennessee offered Nixon in 2018 and has emerged as a favorite this spring. Nixon has been seen repping the the Power T, even starting to help recruit players to join him in Knoxville.

Tennessee already has two receivers committed to their 2021 class. Four-star Jordan Mosley was one of the Vols’ first pledges of the cycle, then three-star receiver Walker Merrill joined him last week. Adding Nixon to the mix would give Tennessee another stout receiving class — their second in as many years.

247’s crystal ball projections now point towards Tennessee as the favorite with three votes. Auburn still has one. With visits on hold for the foreseeable future, might we see a decision from Nixon soon? Stay tuned.
