21 — Tennessee is up to a staggering 21 commitments in their 2021 class, capitalizing on that momentum once again this weekend. The Volunteers added three more four-star prospects, landing linebacker Aaron Willis, defensive tackle Katron Evans and quarterback Kaidon Salter.
Salter, a native of Texas, gives Tennessee another future piece at the position just one year after Harrison Bailey entered the picture. With one more season of Jarrett Guarantano, the Tennessee quarterback room is set for a much different look in the coming seasons. Sophomores Brian Maurer and J.T. Shrout also remain factors in the equation.
247Sports has Salter ranked as the 88th overall prospect in the 2021 class. The 6-1, 185 pound passer is the 4th ranked dual threat quarterback in the class. Salter chose Tennessee over Auburn, Baylor and Arkansas, among others.
Salter has run a verified 4.8 in the 40 yard dash and shows off a live arm. His film is littered with downfield throws, coming from both clean pockets along with moments where he has to improvise. The raw tools here for Jim Chaney to mold over the next few years are pretty exciting.
