According to GoVolsXtra and other media outlets, a second Tennessee men’s basketball player tested positive for COVID-19. Associate AD for Communications Tom Satkowiak confirmed the news to the Knoxville New-Sentinel on Tuesday.
The basketball players came back to school on June 15, and the first positive case for the team was reported Friday. Neither student-athlete’s names have been released.
As per team protocols, both players are being quarantined.
The football team returned to school in early June and none of its players have returned a positive test so far. Let’s hope this is the last positive test for the basketball team, as each positive case I hear about makes me less and less hopeful for seeing live sports anytime soon.
