One of Tennessee’s biggest remaining targets trimmed his list even further on Wednesday. Five-star tackle Amarius Mims is down to six schools now, with Tennessee still remaining in the hunt. Auburn, Alabama, Florida State, Georgia and Oklahoma are the other programs in contention.

Mims had previously had his list set at ten schools back in the spring. LSU, Clemson, Oregon and Florida were among the cuts that Mims made here.

The 6-7, 315 pound prospect is the 6th ranked prospect in America, per 247Sports’ Composite rankings. Mims currently sits as the nation’s No. 2 offensive tackle.

The Georgia native recently revealed that he will be committing on August 15th, so this trimdown is a notable one with a little under a month to go. The home state Georgia Bulldogs remain the favorite here, currently sitting with seven crystal ball projections for Mims.

Tennessee offered Mims way back in January of 2019 and have remained in the race throughout. Mims was on campus this January for an unofficial visit ahead of the recruiting shutdown in the spring.

The Volunteers currently hold just one offensive line commitment in their 2021 class — that’s a number they’d like to change before it’s all said and done. Mims would be a grand slam, but they’ve got some work to do to pry him out of the Peach State.
