Tennessee’s white hot spring recruiting has cooled off a bit after the class of 2021 nearly filled back in May. The Volunteers have a few spots remaining there and some work left to do, but work is well underway for the 2022 class as well.
One of Tennessee’s top targets in that class narrowed his choices down to three schools on Wednesday. Cedric Washington, an athlete out of Cedartown, Georgia, named LSU, Tennessee and Georgia to his top three, despite being very early in the process.
The 6-2, 220 pound Washington is a four-star prospect, according to 247Sports. He’s the 88th ranked player in the class to this point and the 10th ranked player out of the state of Georgia.
Tennessee sent out their offer to Washington back in December, along with the home state Bulldogs. LSU offered just a few weeks ago in June.
One quick glance at his statsheet will explain the high profile offers. Washington put up 17 sacks in his sophomore season of high school, likely projecting as an edge prospect at the next level.

Georgia holds two early crystal ball projections for Washington, calling them a dream college last week. Tennessee clearly has work to do to pull him out of the Peach State, but that’s nothing new. The Volunteers have been very successful in the state of Georgia since Jeremy Pruitt arrived, utilizing those deep south high school ties from Pruitt’s past. We’ll see if they can work some magic again here.
