We haven’t seen too much variation through the years from Tennessee in the uniform department. There have been a few brief detours — black jerseys in 2009, the ‘smokey grey’ look of the Butch Jones era — but the orange and white has typically reigned supreme.
Tennessee has changed up some small details of their look, however. We’ve seen striped pants from both Nike and Adidas, both in different ways. But when Jeremy Pruitt and Phillip Fulmer took control of the football program in 2017, the Volunteers went back to the basics. Black cleats, no stripes on the pants — it was a return to a basic traditional look.
That look will be different in 2020, though. Tennessee officially gave us a look at a pair of striped pants on Thursday, something that has been reportedly happening since early on in the offseason.
Take a look below.
We haven’t seen the double-striped pants since 2014.
Tennessee did change things up last year by breaking out the orange britches, and they just so happened to go undefeated when wearing them. Jeremy Pruitt has teased a potential black uniform for one game this fall, singling out Kentucky as a potential matchup to wear them.
