Another elite prospect has Tennessee on his shortlist of favorites. Charles Bediako, a 6-11, 215 pound center from Canada, put the Volunteers in his top ten schools on Friday. Bediako also included Memphis, Alabama, Duke, Texas, Michigan, Baylor, Maryland, Ohio State and USC made up the rest of his top ten.
Bediako noted that these would be the schools he would focus on going forward.
Thank you to all the coaches that have recruited me, but these will be the top ten I’ll be focusing on. Top ‼️ pic.twitter.com/1lCmaaZhWz— Charles A. Bediako (@CBediako) July 3, 2020
The Ontario native is the 20th ranked player in the class of 2021, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s the third ranked center prospect in the class, currently attending Andrews Osborne Academy.
Tennessee sent out their offer to Bediako near the end of March this year. You can add his name to an elite list of targets that the Volunteers are currently chasing, headlined by five-star prospects Kennedy Chandler, Harrison Ingram and Paolo Banchero.
Rick Barnes has pulled in three five-star prospects over the last two recruiting cycles — Josiah James, Keon Johnson and Jaden Springer. He’s yet to add an elite big man during his time in Knoxville, but Bediako could help change that.
Bediako currently has one crystal ball projection pointing towards Alabama. However, he’s going to have to weigh several heavyweight offers over the next several months. He’s got the length already, with a body ready to add weight to make a run at an NBA career.
File this name away for later in the year.
