A strong freshman season for Henry To’o To’o has caught the eye of SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic. The rising sophomore linebacker was named a top five player at his position in the SEC by Cubelic on Sunday, joining Dylan Moses, Nick Bolton, K.J. Britt and Monty Rice.

To’o To’o signed with Tennessee as a top 50 prospect in the 2019 class. He was immediately inserted into the starting lineup, perhaps with a little too much on his plate. To’o To’o was tasked with immediately filling in for Daniel Bituli, who missed the first two games after undergoing knee surgery ahead of week one in 2019. Naturally, the Tennessee defense took its lumps in those two games, falling to Georgia State and BYU.
But as the season went on, To’o To’o only got stronger. He settled in after Bituli returned to the lineup, flashing all over the field. Now with Bituli gone, this is his show. He’s going to be in charge of getting everyone where they need to be in the pre-snap. It’s going to be interesting to see how he handles the mental side of things with his senior leader now gone.
To’o To’o ended 2019 with 72 total tackles. His athletic ability is obvious and his efforts last season helped Tennessee improve to 23rd in total defense last season. With a year now under his belt, expect big things from the Freshman All-American in 2020.
