Over the past couple of seasons we’ve seen Tennessee wander up north a little bit on the recruiting trail. This weekend, they emerged as a top option for another one of those Big Ten area prospects.
Pennsylvania’s Ken Talley named the Volunteers to his top 13 — one of five SEC teams in the mix. Talley announced that he would be committing on September 8th.
TOP 13 I will be making my decision on my grandmother birthday Sept 8th let the countdown begin #GBR #GBO #Weare #BBN #Gigem #Goblue #H2p #ForksUp #Hailwv #Goterps #Thebirthplace #GoGators #Hottytoddy pic.twitter.com/f2meDEjXXP

Kentucky, Ole Miss, Rutgers, West Virginia, Maryland, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Florida and Penn State joined the Volunteers in his top cut.
Talley is the 164th ranked player in the 247Sports Composite Rankings for the 2022 class. The 6-2, 220 pound edge rusher from Philadelphia is the 11th ranked weakside defensive end in the class.
Tennessee offered Talley in January and got him on campus for a visit at the beginning of March. The Vols are currently trying to wrestle him away from schools closer to home, which will be no easy task. Penn State is the perceived lead for Talley, currently sitting with 100 percent of the crystal ball projections at 247Sports.
On the field, Talley is an explosive speed rusher. While he may not have the elite length needed to be a first round draft pick, his speed and quickness make him dangerous firing off the edge. Talley projects as an immediate third down pass rusher as he fills out his frame and adds strength.
September 8th may be his commitment date, but this is a prospect that should still hear plenty from other programs around the country over the next 16 months.
