The Tennessee Volunteers are finally set to open their 2020 season tonight in Columbia against the South Carolina Gamecocks. The season’s start was initially delayed for nearly a month, as non-conference schedules were slashed in favor of a ten-game SEC schedule.
The traditional late October matchup with now kickoff the season, with Will Muschamp looking for some momentum to cool off his hot seat. Jeremy Pruitt, on the other hand, is just days removed from signing a two-year extension that will keep him in Knoxville through 2025.
Tennessee got the better of South Carolina last year with a 41-21 victory.
LATE BREAKING NEWS: Defensive linemen Darel Middleton and Savion Williams will not be available to play tonight. RB Dee Beckwith and TE Austin Pope will miss this one due to injury.
Cade Mays did not make the trip. The Georgia transfer was cleared by the NCAA, but the SEC has yet to give final clearance.
