Podcast: Breaking down Tennessee’s win over South Carolina, what stood out around the rest of the SEC

NCAA Football: Tennessee at South Carolina Jeff Blake-USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Volunteers got the 2020 season going with a victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday night. It was far from perfect, both from an execution and player availability standpoint, but the Volunteers once again found a way.

Finding a way has been a theme of this program over the last 11 months or so as Tennessee has racked up seven straight wins.

On this episode of the Rocky Top Talk podcast, we’ll dive into some offensive issues that we saw, including quarterback Jarrett Guarantano. What can Jim Chaney do better as a play-caller? We have a few ideas.

Defensively, Deandre Johnson stole the show, but Henry To’o To’o also had another strong showing. We’ll also talk about Tennessee’s defensive shuffle with Darel Middleton and Shawn Shamburger out. How did Doneiko Slaughter fare in a surprising game one start?
