Tennessee players react to Jeremy Pruitt getting fired

NCAA Football: Florida at Tennessee Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

Tennessee has fired Jeremy Pruitt, now according to a boatload of reports. We are still waiting on official word from the school, but this is likely a direct result of the internal investigation that has been ongoing for more than a month now.

Pruitt finished up the 2020 season with a 3-7 mark, fresh off of signing a contract extension before the season began.

The Volunteers will begin yet another new era, which will also include a new Athletics Director. Phillip Fulmer is reported stepping down from his post as AD, clearing the way for a new leader to hire the next football coach.

As expected, Tennessee’s current players weren’t thrilled with the decision. It’s understandable from their point of view, considering the relationships formed from the recruiting trail and during their time with the program.

A couple of key notes here: 2021 four-star quarterback Kaidon Salter seems solid still, while four-star pass rusher Dylan Brooks does not.

Tennessee should have an official announcement soon, where it is expected that they hit the reset button yet again. Expect more transfer portal news soon — and not the good kind.
