Josh Heupel is the new head football coach at Tennessee. Athletic director Danny White introduced Heupel today at a press conference, where Heupel delivered his opening message to the media and the Tennessee fanbase.
White also took questions at the end of the video.
White praised Heupel’s ability to create offense and develop quarterbacks, calling his style and exciting brand of football. We took a deeper dive into those offensive numbers here.
As for Heupel himself, he’s not a guy that’s really going to win the press conference with excitement or slogans. But he did spend some time speaking on his offensive philosophy and background. He also addressed the recruiting violations that occurred under Jeremy Pruitt, and what he has learned at each coaching stop to this point.
Heupel enters coming off of a 28-8 record in three seasons with Central Florida. Tennessee will pay him $4 million annually over the next six seasons. Next up — staff hires.
