Following the hire of Josh Heupel, Tennessee kicker Brent Cimaglia has entered the transfer portal. The 2019 All-SEC selection announced today that he plans on finishing his college career elsewhere

These last four years have meant a lot to me. I was able to fulfill a dream of playing in front of the most passionate fan base in the country. I have made lifelong friends and will cherish these memories forever. With that being said, it is time for me to move forward in the best interest of me and my family. I will be entering the transfer portal to finish my last season. I want to say thank you for everything, Volnation. You will always be a part of my life and as always, go big orange.

Signing out #42 — Brent Cimaglia

Cimaglia opted out of the final two games in 2020, dealing with a leg injury. Walk-on Toby Wilson handled the kicking duties to close the season. Tennessee has signed J.T. Carver as a preferred walk-on during the early period, while Paxton Brooks could also be an option for 2021. Odd are, the Volunteers are likely going to head to the transfer portal in order to maximize their options.

Cimaglia will finish 11th all time in scoring for Tennessee. He connected on 46 of 62 attempts, finishing with a 74 percent mark for this career. That number is good enough for third in school history. Clearly hurting, Cimaglia went just 5-9 in his final season in Knoxville.

So you can now add kicker to the list of roster question marks as Josh Heupel takes control of the program.
