Tennessee-Ole Miss: Rebels open as small favorites

NCAA Football: Mississippi at Alabama Butch Dill-USA TODAY Sports

Tennessee is coming off of back to back impressive wins over Missouri and South Carolina, and now the fun really begins. The Volunteers have a stretch up next consisting of Ole Miss, Alabama, Kentucky and Georgia.

Lane Kiffin’s Rebels will kickoff that portion of the schedule, and Vegas has already released odds on the matchup. Ole Miss opened as a four point favorite over Tennessee on Sunday, while the total was set at a staggering 79.

Tennessee has scored four touchdowns in both of their last two first quarters, establishing big leads on Missouri and South Carolina. Josh Heupel now sits a 4-2 on the year, with his toughest stretch still ahead of him. Still, a really nice foundation has been laid halfway through his first season in Knoxville.

Matt Corral and Ole Miss will bring Lane Kiffin’s high-powered offense, along with his struggling defense. The Rebels are ranked second in total offense, but rank in the bottom third of total defense, giving up 429 yards per game. Ole Miss and Tennessee rank 5th and 6th respectively in rushing yards per game.

Hendon Hooker has brought a steady hand to the Tennessee offense — will it be enough to knock off the 13th ranked Ole Miss Rebels?

More on this game as the week unfolds.
