Tennessee and LSU will meet today in Baton Rouge for a matchup with NCAA Tournament seeding implications. The Tigers remain squarely on the bubble with just a few weeks remaining, while Tennessee is still jockeying for a top seed in the big dance. A win today would strengthen either side’s argument.
The Volunteers are looking to continue momentum today with star freshmen Jaden Springer and Keon Johnson, who seemingly have taken control of this team over the last week. Springer’s 30 point performance against Georgia built off of Johnson’s 27 point outburst against Kentucky, which have give us all hope that this team has suddenly turned a corner.
They’ll have another chance to prove it today against a tough LSU team. The Tigers are 12-6 overall, coming off of hanging 94 points on Mississippi State on Wednesday. Will Wade has a clear-cut ‘big four,’ consisting of Cameron Thomas, Trendon Watford, Ja’Vonte Smart and Darius Days. Thomas leads the way offensively, scoring 22 points per game.
LSU has dropped four of six, but two of those came against Alabama, one against Texas Tech, and another against Kentucky. They badly need a signature win, and have a chance to pick one up this afternoon against the Vols.
