We’ll have to wait a couple more days to get our first look at Tennessee on a practice field in 2021. Tennessee confirmed today that they would be delaying the start of spring practice by two days, following a pause due to COVID. The Volunteers were able to resume activities on Monday, but will now begin practices on Thursday.
Tennessee’s pro day, featuring Trey Smith, Brandon Kennedy, Bryce Thompson and Josh Palmer, is also set for Thursday.
The Vols will spend the next few weeks on-field for the first time under Josh Heupel, installing new offensive and defensive systems. The offensive attack will move from a pro-style under-center look, to a spread. All eyes will be on the wide open quarterback battle, with Harrison Bailey, Hendon Hooker, Brian Maurer and Kaidon Salter set to make their cases for the starting spot.
Several positions, such a running back, wide receiver, offensive line and linebacker will be working in new faces as starters, following a number of transfers this offseason.
All of this will lead into the annual Orange and White Game, which has been set for April 24th at 4 p.m. ET.
So at least for a month, football content will be back and rolling as the Heupel era truly begins.
