On the eve of Tennessee spring practice kicking off, another Volunteer has entered the transfer portal. Sean Brown, who would have been entering his third season at Tennessee, has entered the portal, per 247Sports. Per their report, Brown’s entry in the portal comes with a ‘do not contact’ tag, which suggests Brown knows where he’s going.

Brown was set to battle it out for playing time beginning this spring. Tennessee signed two tight ends in the class of 2019, with the other being Jackson Lowe. Both have since left the program via transfer portal.

Brown is a former three-star prospect, committing to Jeremy Pruitt’s 2019 class over Auburn. The 6-5, 250 pound tight end is out of Rome, Georgia.

Tennessee is left with a bit of a mess at the tight end spot entering the spring. Veteran Austin Pope returns after a brief stint in the portal. Pope missed all of last season following back surgery in the summer. Jacob Warren, Princeton Fant and perhaps an athlete like Dee Beckwith could also be factors in the battle. The Volunteers also signed Miles Campbell and Trinity Bell in the 2021 class.

All of these questions and more will begin to be answered tomorrow, when Tennessee hits the practice field for the first time under Josh Heupel.
