We officially have a start date for the on-field product of the Josh Heupel era at Tennessee. Per an announcement from the University today, spring practices will begin on Tuesday, March 23rd and the annual Orange and White game will be played on Saturday, April 24th.
The kickoff time for the Orange and White Game has not yet officially been set. Procedures for attending the game with COVID protocols will also be announced at a later date. The game was canceled last year due to the COVID outbreak, along with the bulk of spring practices.
Tennessee will be able to hold 15 practices over a five-week period, culminating with the spring scrimmage at the end of April. It will be the first on-field action for Josh Heupel and his new staff as they attempt to install their new offensive and defensive systems. With all of the transfers and the new-look offense, we should have no shortage of storylines to cover throughout the spring.
Also announced on Wednesday — Tennessee’s Pro Day will be held on March 25th. Those events are now an even more vital part of the NFL Draft process with the NFL Combine being held virtually this year. Josh Palmer, Trey Smith and Bryce Thompson have each received invites to the Combine, but they’ll utilize this day for on-field workouts for scouts.
