Four-star cornerback Khamauri Rodgers names top six

NCAA Football: Tennessee at Missouri Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Slowly but surely, list season is beginning to take over the college football scene — it’s that time of year. The latest to trim down his choices is four-star cornerback Khamauri Rogers, who narrowed his list to six this weekend. The Volunteers made the cut, along with Miami, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

The Mississippi product included Georgia, UCF, LSU and Oklahoma in a top ten last month, but left them out of the updated list today.

The 6-1 prospect is the 65th ranked player in the 2022 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Rogers is the top player in the state of Mississippi, coming out of Lexington.

Cornerback remains a big need for Tennessee, with veteran starters beginning to near the end of their careers in Knoxville. Defensive coordinator Tim Banks and defensive backs coach Willie Martinez will need to restock the depth chart in this class, with Alontae Taylor and Kenneth George Jr. now seniors. Beyond Warren Burrell, there isn’t much proven behind them for the future.

Rogers has official visits lined up for this summer, with Tennessee slated for June 25th. Ole Miss, LSU and Miami have each received crystal ball projections for Rogers at this point, but Tennessee keeps hanging around in this one. Now down to six options and with official visits looming, this is a name to know going forward.
