Kaidon Salter’s first semester at Tennessee hasn’t gone as planned. The former four-star recruit signed early and enrolled in school early with hopes of getting a headstart on learning Josh Heupel’s new offensive system. However, to this point he has been unable to practice due to a suspension.
Salter was involved in an incident on campus that resulted in the arrest of four members of the football team last month. Linebacker Aaron Willis, defensive lineman Isaac Washington and linebacker Martavius French were also arrested on drug charges.
None of those four have practiced so far this spring, with French and Willis delivering the biggest blow in terms of depth.
It’s unclear when they will rejoin team activities, but in the meantime, Salter took the time to apologize for his actions on Tuesday.
I just want to take this opportunity to apologize to my team, my coaches the Vol fans & my parents for my negative choices

Salter was a top 100 prospect in the class of 2021 and had at least an outside shot of factoring into Tennessee’s quarterback battle this offseason. He’s now a few steps behind the rest, but may have a chance to find his footing over the next couple of weeks.
