Keon Johnson enters 2021 NBA Draft, will hire agent

What has been assumed for some time is now official — Keon Johnson will enter the NBA Draft and hire an agent. The report this morning comes from Draft Express.

Johnson, a former five-star prospect out of Bell Buckle, Tennessee, will become the second Volunteer to enter the NBA Draft early. Fellow five-star prospect Jaden Springer has also entered the draft, also hiring an agent. Both are expected to be first round selections, and each have been consistently projected to go inside of the top 15.

Johnson averaged 11.3 points per game as a freshman at Tennessee this season. The ultra-athletic prospect oozes athletic talent, and seems like a lock to go in the top ten of this summer’s draft.

The 6-5, 186 pound guard lacks shooting ability, which is the main question mark on him as he begins his professional career. However, the athletic ability is undeniable, and some team will happily gamble on his shooting development over the next few seasons.

Johnson is a lockdown defender and a gifted finisher at the rim. He should test off of the charts athletically at the NBA Combine, justifying his top ten status.

The NBA Draft will be held on July 29th.
